Klings

Kling's was also known as Kling's Motion Unlimited and now just Motion Unlimited. They have been on Wabash Ave in Chicago for over 40 years.

From their website--

"Motion Unlimited Dancewear is a dance wear store located in downtown Chicago. It is located at 218 S. Wabash Ave on the second floor in suite 270. The store has been around for over 60 years and we are most known for our wide variety of dance shoes. The current owner, Greg Begley, took over the store in 1997 after dancing and teaching professionally since the early 80’s. The original owners of the store were Steve and Charlotte Kling who actually manufactured shoes in the building we are in today; they had been in the building for over 40 years. They retired soon after selling the store and stopped manufacturing shoes. "

So that means Kling's started making shoes -- including pointe shoes in the 1950's.

I spied this lovely pair of red pointe shoes online recently. I was never aware prior to this that Kling's had made pointe shoes.
